In an ever-more-volatile Middle East, the prospect of a military confrontation between Israel and its neighbors is fast becoming a tangible possibility, the IDF’s intelligence chief warned on Monday.

“In the coming year, the State of Israel will come up against an unstable, increasingly Islamist region: a region that has been dealing with a series of crises — regional and internal — that increases the volatility of all of the players and that could lead, without prior warning, to conflagrations,” Military Intelligence Director Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi said in his annual presentation to Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz and the IDF top brass.

Republican platform committee's 'two-state' language on Israel's land, influenced by Netanyahu, Cantor and AIPAC

Former Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) quoted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demonstrate that the original platform language was consistent with the Israeli position. However, earlier this year in January, the Republican National Committee adopted a resolution that some read as repudiating a two-state solution. Although, an RNC spokesman stressed that the resolution did not represent the party's position and that all that mattered was the party's platform.

Jewish Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) and AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel Jewish lobby, pushed for a "two-state" position to be included in the Republican platform. It was approved by vote last Tuesday (the day Isaac began) and is now awaiting formal approval at the Republican Convention.

Romney, Netanyahu, and Cantor were given personal copies of "Eye to Eye - Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel." They have been told of Israel's biblical rights to all of Judea and Samaria and the consequences of dividing God's covenant land. An Israeli official said they prefer a practical view rather than a biblical view.

Republican convention faces Isaac threat to Gulf Coast

Christian News

US Republicans are to open their national convention as they prepare to formally nominate Mitt Romney as Barack Obama's White House challenger.

But Monday's events in Tampa, Florida have all been cancelled amid concern over the path of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The storm will miss Tampa, but is set to hit the Gulf coast while the rejigged convention is in full swing.

Concern remains that the storm could overshadow key speeches by Mr Romney and running mate Paul Ryan.

Southern Decadence - Aug. 29 - Sept. 3, 2012

New Orleans Tourism Statement: What began as a simple going-away party on Barracks Street in 1972 has evolved into one of New Orleans' premier yearly events: Southern Decadence. Held annually in the French Quarter over Labor Day weekend, this celebration of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) culture has begun attracting as many as 125,000-135,000 participants from all over the world in recent years.

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans right before the scheduled start of the 2005 Southern Decadence.

Massive Isaac expected to be a Category 1 at landfall:
7th Anniversary of Katrina - Wednesday, August 29

Christian News

Isaac poses a serious threat to portions of the northern Gulf Coast Tuesday into Wednesday.

Hurricane warnings continue for portions of the northern Gulf Coast, including New Orleans, Biloxi and Gulf Shores as Tropical Storm Isaac continues its northwestward march. Hurricane watches are posted as far west as Morgan City, La. In addition, a number of tropical storm warnings are in effect. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the western Florida Panhandle.

All interests from Louisiana to Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle should rush preparations to completion.

"The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day." - E. M. Bounds
